BlytheStar Update

In my BlytheStar Etsy shop I'm now offering a couple of services.

For 'skinny leg' trousers -  I can knit a pair of these for your doll in the colour of your choice.  




And (completely different) I'm offering a Passport Service.  Because every Blythe needs a passport for her shopping trips to Paris!

"I have my passport - when do we go?"

Passports are personalised with the doll's photo and details - they can even choose the colour of the cover!







I've listed some new jewelry - including earrings for those dolls with pierced ears.












There are new Party Frocks hand knitted in sparkly metallic yarns.
My own pattern - the design was based on some dresses I saw for humans.  These dresses come with matching bead necklaces - and there are 2 necklaces to choose from for each dress.

And finally - there is this raincoat and matching cap of lovely, shiny, cherry red, Italian 'pleather'.  I'm very proud of this outfit - that contrast top-stitching was difficult to sew neatly.

Fashioned by Lyndell Etsy Shop Update

I've a lot of new / old sewing and knitting patterns on the "Fashioned by Lyndell" shop.  De-stashing some of my pattern collections.


Don't you just love the photographs in those old knitting pattern booklets? Everything from sweet children ...

To these cool guys wearing a really deep V-neck style that must have been really fashionable at the time.  This photo really needs a caption

The women really 'work' a variety of looks through the decades :

 This lady is leading with her chin but the man behind her looks quite sinister!

 But I don't think anything will frighten this blonde woman - or perhaps she is feeling triumphant that she escaped wearing the beanie!

Protesty

I'm not one for protests and rallies and such but I am supporting the Protesty.

Etsy is a lovely place to sell and shop for hand-crafts - it's wonderful just to cruise through Etsy and see all that fantastic creativity.  Unfortunately, there is a trend away from genuine hand-crafts towards mass produced goods and reselling; a trend that is threatening to overwhelm Etsy.

So - I've joined over 4,000 Etsians  (shop owners & customers)  and I've put both my shops on "vacation mode" for 24hrs.

The Red Carpet

As many of you know, my Blythe dolls are stars of Stage & Screen ... so there has been quite a flurry of excitement over the last few days, selecting dresses, having their hair styled etc etc in preparation for The Big Event with Gold Statuettes.  Their jewelry arrived just in time ...

Lillian wore stunning diamond cuffs with a vintage Valentine dress without a thigh high split - pink lips and flowing hair. 

 

Audrey chose an Open-the-Door gown from the 1954 collection - retro and cute with a cherry print.  Her pretty emerald choker exactly matches the colour of her eyes.

 Their jewels are from a wonderful Etsian - Beatrice lives in Sweden & she makes really beautiful jewelry for dolls & humans.  Her bead-work is incredibly delicate and neat!  Even the stamp on the envelope made me smile ...

Another Etsy Front Page

I wondered why I made 2 sales on Etsy yesterday ... one of my hats was on the Front Page WOOT


the emerald green felt with the peacock feathers :-) I didn't know this treasury had made it to the front page but did some sleuthing to find the reason for the sudden burst of interest in my shop. Being on the Front Page of Etsy is great :-)

Have been clicking away and have managed to achieve some FOs (Finished Objects !)

For Granddaughter a bolero and matching beanie:
The Pattern is from Cleckheatons's Cocoon Baby No: 951 but the yarn is Bendigo Woollen Mills new "Luxury" 4ply only I
dyed the yarn with those Blossom Spots myself :-)


For my Etsy shop (IF I can part with it!) a shawl that is just like a cloud - very soft and cuddly, lots of lovely Colinette yarns
in soft sun-rise colours.


My own design - a combination of triangle shawl and rectangle pashmina style shawl with the best features of both. Triangles keep your back warm but are often too short in the front corners - rectangles have length at the front but leave half your back to freeze ... this has back coverage AND fronts that you can wrap, throw over the shoulder, cuddle into ... It also has tassels :-)

Not finished yet but I'm making rapid progress, is a "Maxwell" a Martin Storey for Jaeger. It is a warm zip-up jacket with 2x2 ribbing, polo neck and massive (30sts !!) cables.

Still here and still making things!

What a month or 2 or 3 and Christmas is looming ...

But instead of running about in sheer panic I'll tell you about some of the things I've been making ...

An Etsy customer asked for a custom order of one of my 1930s style evening wraps in a dark colour and then ended up buying a bright coloured one that was already in my store. A good thing really because these wraps are my most popular item and now I have quite a lovely range of them - from soft pink devore velvet and a very bridal champagne silk, to dark forest green crushed velour ...

This is my favourite of these 1930s style kimono wraps at the moment - the fabric is really soft and smoochy and the colour is a lovely mysterious grey / mauve :-)

Goodness Gracious - My hat was on ETSY's Front Page

My "Flapper Girl Cloche" hat was on Etsy's Front Page - this is a copy, my hat is in the middle of the lowest row.



A complete surprise - I didn't even get a notification that it was in the treasury!

Yea - my GumNut Beanie for an adult is on the Dust Team Blog list of gift suggestions for Father's Day :-) the yarn is hand-spun undyed, natural coloured sheep and alpaca fleece.

My Etsy shops have been rather neglected in the last few weeks - and neglect is always immediately reflected in sales :-( but yesterday I listed some very old newspapers (from 1930) and they sold almost immediately VBG

I don't like to boast about knitting I've made for stage productions until the run is over - but I think I can show you a bit of the last Theatrical Knit now. It was for Bell Shakespeare Company's production of "Pericles" - wonderful costume and set designs by Julie Lynch. I knitted a striped vest for a fisherman - a very loose knit in banana silk yarn and self patterning sock yarn.

This vest featured some-what in the action - when Pericles is ship-wrecked for the 2nd or 3rd time (he makes a habit of it) he is rescued by some fishermen and when he complains that he is cold, one takes of his vest (the one I knitted) and gives it to Pericles.
