Autumnal Fun - gi

A few weeks ago this appeared in our back garden ...

Very bright orange and all shiny with the rain - I think they are Leratiomyces ceres.  Quite common and wide-spread apparently ... Australian Fungi is a blog with lots of wonderful information.  The un-even gills of a grey buff colour certainly match the description for Leratiomyces ceres - and ours were probably introduced into the garden with some bark-chips.  That blog says "is reported to be poisonous" and that bright colour seems to be a warning - we didn't try it !!
This fungus darkens with age ...

Blythe Doll Hair Treatment

Oh dear!
Lillian's hair was getting really quite unmanageable (again) with very frizzy ends.

Time for visit to the Hair Dresser for the Full Treatment!

All wrapped up to keep warm (and a little sticky tape over things at the back of her head to keep the water from getting in) ...

This is a bit boring ...

then Lillian's hair was soaked for a very long time in warm water and lots of hair conditioner.

Towel dried and then the tedious process of combing out -

and you can see just how long that back section of Lillian's hair is.

She is an ADG Lounging Lovely - and her hair is in 3 different lengths plus those sweet little curls.

At last - all gorgeous and shiny again.

A Busy Weekend of Workshops coming up

This coming weekend is going to be a busy one ...

Saturday - I'm running the "Restyle a Garment" Workshop at the Green Living Centre in Newtown.

I think it is fully booked but there is a wait list ... these workshops are gaining in popularity!

It will be all about taking old / mistake purchase / boring - garments and making them something you will wear instead of consigning the garment to landfill.  Frills, Flowers, Patches, Embroidery - take 2 boring garments and combine them into one really Funky garment ...

Then on Sunday I'm running workshops all day at the Blacktown Council Enviro Expo - which is attached to the Medieval Faire.

Hssss  Let'sss Ssssstop that cold air
There will be Mend It / Darn It workshops, up-cycle old garments workshops, we might make some Draught Stopping Serpents ...   should be a fun day.

Hubby is an Exhibitionist

Tee hee did that get your attention?!?

My Hubby Dear has some of his photography on exhibition at a Cafe in Newtown - upstairs at Berkelouw's Bookshop in O'Connell (just off King Street).

The official opening is Friday evening - the 11th May -  from 5.30.   Clik Here for the cafe's FaceBook page.

Alan uses old medium format TLR cameras with film and he does his own processing and developing - all old style in a dark room.  Black & White and completely non-digital.

The medium format & the 'wet-processing' give Alan's photos a nostalgic feel and some of the pictures in this exhibition were taken a while ago - remember those red rattler trains?

The Exhibition is on until the 3rd June.

Protesty

I'm not one for protests and rallies and such but I am supporting the Protesty.

Etsy is a lovely place to sell and shop for hand-crafts - it's wonderful just to cruise through Etsy and see all that fantastic creativity.  Unfortunately, there is a trend away from genuine hand-crafts towards mass produced goods and reselling; a trend that is threatening to overwhelm Etsy.

So - I've joined over 4,000 Etsians  (shop owners & customers)  and I've put both my shops on "vacation mode" for 24hrs.

Too Too ... too much!

Audrey :  What do you suppose our person is making for us now?

Violetta :  Well, I don't think it is a big fluffy hat.

Audrey :  I know - it's a bonnet.

Violetta :  Ummm - actually - look at the books she has out - I think it's going to be a ballerina's tutu.
Audrey :  Oh!   so you put it around your middle -

what a strange garment!

Audrey :  And then you stand on one leg ... I think I can do that.

Audrey : I like being a ballerina.

Violetta :  Oh dear!
